Units in AP Psychology: Fall Semester
During the course if the year we will cover the following units. Each unit has a page with all the information you will need for that part of the course. To determine the unit we are currently covering, see the calendar below and look for upcoming assignments and tests.
Fall Semester Units
Introduction
This unit is all about welcoming you to the course and explaining the expectations of the class.
Unit Two: History and Approaches
This unit is all about the history of psychology and explaining the various approached modern psychologists take.
Unit Three: Research Methods
This unit covers the basics of how psychologists do research. From the basic research procedures to ethical constraints on research to statistical analysis.
Unit Four: Social Psychology
We all behave differently when we are around others. This unit will examine various aspects of this phenomenon and will hopefully leave all of you better able to understand how your social surroundings effect you.
Unit Five: Biological Processes
In order to understand psychology we must understand the physical structures that make it all possible.
Unit Six: Developmental Psychology
We are all constantly developing. This unit will trace various aspects of our development, from physical, emotional, social, sexual, moral, and cognitive.
Unit Seven: Sensation and Perception
This unit helps us to understand how we input physical stimulus into our brain as well as how we perceive those sensations and do something with them.
Unit Eight: States of Consciousness
This unit will address the various states of consciousness we all go through. We will focus on the normal, sleep and dreams, to the effects of drugs and other altered conciseness.

Spring Semester
Unit Nine: Learning
This unit will address the most basic ways we learn, from classical and operant conditioning to observational learning.
Unit Ten: Cognition
This unit will examine how we think, remember, and develop language.
Unit Eleven: Motivation, Work, and Emotion
This unit examines what motivates us in life and how we emotionally respond to things life.
Unit Twelve: Intelligence and Testing
This unit examines what intelligence is, how it is tested, and looks at people on the extremes of the intelligence scale.
Unit Thirteen: Personality
This unit examines the different aspects of personality. Each view (perspective) of psychology has their own ideas on what impact our personality.
Unit Fourteen: Disorders and Therapies
Sometimes people have disorders that cause abnormal behaviors. This unit will examine the causes, characteristics, prevelance, and treatments for various mental disorders.
Exam Review
Exam Review Material- This material can be used to help you review for the Final Exam in the Fall as well as the AP exam in May.
